Grace and Courtesy

Grace and courtesy are an integral part of our MKU curriculum. As the school year develops, our children will begin the normalization phase with the introduction of grace and courtesy lessons. Grace and courtesy lessons are the foundation and critical to how the classroom will flow throughout the year. We cover everything from how to greet guests, how to ask a question or resolve peer conflicts. In addition to the lessons being presented during our morning work cycle, we will be exploring what grace and courtesy means during our afternoon enrichment program, DaVinci Kids. During the month of September, our children will work on provocations helping to develop self-awareness, gratitude, and caring for themselves and others. Reading “The Feelings Book” by Todd Parr; making play dough cookies for friends, and writing gratitude cards all foster a better understanding of the importance of being graceful and courteous. Our children may even get to meet our mascots, “Grace and Curt” for this theme! Check out Montessori Kids Universe on Facebook to see our photo albums of the grace and courtesy provocations in action.
