My name is Joann Feyen and I am so excited to be your Head Of School.
I have been working in early childhood for more years than I can count. I moved to North Carolina in 2004 and have been blessed with two beautiful children. In my spare time, I like to decorate and plan events. As a family, we enjoy camping and spending time with friends.
I love what I do. The highlight of my day is seeing the joy children get when they accomplish a task whether it is taking their first steps, sorting shapes, knowing their colors, or writing their name. I believe that every child should be given the opportunity to succeed in a safe and healthy environment. I believe that every child needs to be treated with respect and given many opportunities to succeed. I also believe that it is my job to help support and encourage the teachers to be the best they can be, to be a positive role model, and to teach with respect and encouragement. I understand the importance of building strong relationships. It is my goal to get to know each teacher, child, parent, and family. I believe that we are partners in your child’s educational journey and I am honored to be part of the family!
Danny and Mandy reside in Apex, North Carolina with their two children, Noah and Amelia. They fell in love with Montessori philosophy and concepts through the years their children attended a Montessori school in Chapel Hill, NC. They noticed that the Montessori values their kids developed at that time translated to habits at home as well which strengthened their belief that Montessori not only provided an excellent academic foundation for children but also engrained in them grace and courtesy, and practical life skills all while fostering confidence and independence. Many years later when the Gee’s were presented with the opportunity to open their own Montessori Kids Universe location, they were excited to be able to provide this amazing educational opportunity to the community of Fuquay Varina.
My name is Ms Deonna, or as my class calls me, “Ms. Dee”. I am one of our toddler teachers and I love to see their excitement to learn new things. They are full of energy and curious about everything. Before working in a preschool, I was a nanny. I am currently enrolled at Wake Tech taking Early Education classes and I hope to obtain my degree within the next year. I am also enrolled in the Montessori Kids Universe Teaching Institute and learning everything Montessori. I love seeing how all the materials have a purpose and I can’t wait to teach the methods to your little ones. I am very excited to be working closely with you and your family. It truly is a group effort in helping our little ones grow and develop. Hope to see you soon!
My name is Ms Kristy and I have taught for over 20 years. Teaching has been a huge part of my life and I love every single minute of it. I am NC lead teacher certified and am currently enrolled in Montessori Kids Universe Teaching institute so that I can better your child’s Montessori experience and learning. The things that I have learned are so interesting and make so much sense now that the why has been explained behind the material. I have taught all ages, but I have fallen in love the two’s. They are little sponges and take in so much.
I am a mom of two boys, and I have one grandbaby boy who brings me so much joy and happiness. In my spare time, I love to fish and participate in fishing tournaments. I also love to hunt for arrowheads and ride my horse Zeus.
I look forward to seeing you and for allowing me to be a part of your child’s day.
My name is Ms. Sierra and I am one of the toddler teachers at MKU. I have over 15 years of experience with children of all ages. I believe that all children are unique in their own way and that they all learn differently, at their own pace. I am a NC lead teacher certified and enrolled in the Montessori Kids Universe Teaching Institute so that I can better prepare your toddler for the two-year-old room. I’m gaining so much knowledge and I can’t wait to help your little ones gain the independence they need to succeed in the years to come.
I am married with four children, a bonus child, and a Shi-poo named Loui! We are a busy family who always seems to be on the go. In my spare time, I make and decorate cakes and cupcakes for events and parties.
The most important thing about me and I think its also the best thing about me is that I LOVE children. Not everyone can wear the cape of a teacher, especially a toddler teacher. Kids are my passion and I am here to fly into your toddlers’ lives and make it their best toddler year ever.
Ms K. Lead Children’s House Teacher

I believe in when children are in 3-6 yrs age group they can become susceptible to adult influence. During this period the personality undergoes great changes. They prepared classroom environment develops coordination, concentration, order and Independence as they work around in the classroom.
Child must be become the center of education, we must never forget they don’t develop only at university, but they begin their mental growth at birth and pursue it with greatest intensity during first 6 years of their life. From three to six child has conscious absorbent mind, which makes this age different from any other time of life and will never return. This makes the child of this age different from any other time of life. Through this Absorbent Mind, the child creates the person he/she will become. It enables the child to acquire the culture of environment. To assist the child in this creative process, we should create a special, prepared environment and this classroom will be guiding the children through that prepared environment.
I am so excited to be there and watch your child grow and master new things. Thank you for trusting me with your child and their early education.
My name is Ms. Maria and I am originally from Mexico and Spanish is my native language. If your child is on our two year old or Pre-Primary class, they will be introduced to Spanish words on a daily basis. I have been working with teaching young children for 16 years and I love watching the little ones learn new things. I believe that children learn through experimenting and having hands-on experiences with different materials and textures. All children need to be given the opportunity to learn in their own way.
I have been married for almost 29 years and I have two beautiful children that are grown up. In my spare time you can find me in my garden or reading a book with one of my cats curled up in my lap.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me, I hope to see you and your little one in my class soon, I know they will love it at MKU.
