We see teachers (guides) as the vessel of your child’s learning, therefore we seek the highest quality individuals. Additionally, each classroom has a teacher’s assistant in order to help with the many tasks and cater to each student’s individual needs. Sandra is our Admissions Counselor and the first one to greet you and your children every day. She was born in Texas & has lived in Houston and Sugar Land for over 40 years. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a BS degree in Nursing and worked in Texas Medical Center as an RN. She has been blessed with 2 wonderful daughters & 3 grandchildren who are the light of her heart.

Ms. Vicki is our front office Director of Admissions. Her role is to oversee the admission process, conduct parent and family interviews, and ensure that that the transition into MKU is smooth and seamless for children and parents. Vicki’s goal is to make sure parents feel comfortable in our school environment and that they know their children are receiving the best education and care anywhere.  She has received an American Montessori Society Certificate of Continuing Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Ms. Aysha, our Pre-Primary teacher, has a Bachelor’s degree in commerce and several years’ experience working with children. She has two children of her own and believes that teachers shape little minds. One of her greatest strengths is being creative with the children. Outside of her school time, she loves to cook, garden and draw. Ms. Aysha is furthering her Montessori Education Certification and is in the process of completing her Montessori Certification.

Ms. Christina is our Primary 1 teacher. Her educational background is in computer science and she has 15 years of teaching experience in phonics and grammar. She was born and raised in South Korea. She is married to her best friend, Thomas, and they have two 13-year-old twin boys. She loves to watch her students learn and grow into happy, well rounded, young men and women. She has received an American Montessori Society Certificate of Continuing Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Topics included developmentally appropriate approaches to Montessori learning, STEM learning, observations and planning, and developing kindness and compassion in children. Ms. Christina is also in the process of completing her Montessori Certification.

Ms. Maria is our Toddler teacher and has been a dedicated Early Childhood Educator for 19 years. She came highly recommended from her previous schools, where she was named Classroom Teacher of the Year and was loved by parents and children! Ms. Maria is working on her Early Childhood Education degree and is a member of the Association for Childhood Educational International.

Ms. Mehri, our Infant teacher, comes by her job naturally. She was raised in a family of ten, always caring for her siblings, and she has one daughter who is her pride and joy. She has a degree in Management in Finance from the University of Birmingham in England and teacher certification training in General Education. She has served in education for more than seventeen years and respects and loves her infants, caring for them as if they were her own. She has received an American Montessori Society Certificate of Continuing Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Ms. Zenaida is Pre-Primary assistant teacher. A new transplant to Texas she feels honored to work at MKU. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked for one of the best preschools in Oahu and we are proud to have her on staff. “My heart soars up high whenever a child gives me a wave, a hug, a smile or a simple, “Are you happy Ms. Naida?” What could be better than that? And that’s what I get every day as soon as I clock myself in to our school. Ms. Karen is our Pre-Primary assistant. She is currently a student at Wharton Community Junior College majoring in Speech Pathology. She has worked for LCISD elementary and as an after school counselor. Her certifications include awareness of child abuse, bullying, and helping special needs children. She also worked for Fort Bend County Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston. Ms. Karen genuinely enjoys working with children and helping them find their unique potential and setting the foundation that will set the on a path to be honest and kind hearted individuals.

Ms. Raquel Lopez is our Infant teacher assistant. She has over 14 years of experience working with children from infant to 5 years old. She has a huge love and compassion for teaching children. She enjoys seeing the infants smile as they come into the room, it’s gratifying and inspires her to do her best.

Ms. Farah Shnain is our Assistant Pre-Primary teacher. She is licensed in Early Childhood Education and has seven years of experience working in childcare. She thinks that working with children is the most rewarding job in the world because of the promise each child brings to the world. Her motivation is seeing the infants blossom as they respond to her.

Ms. Aisha, is an Assistant Teacher. She is currently a college student and a native Houstonian, born and raised. “I love my babies” Working with infants/babies and seeing their smiling faces is the best feeling in the world. Aisha is furthering her education in early childhood development and in fitness and nutrition. Aisha loves to work out in her spare time.

Ms. Yaneth is the Lead Montessori Directress in the Primary 2 classroom.  Future Graduate of the University of Houston pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Ms. Yaneth has been in the Child Care Industry for over eitht years. Ms. Yaneth has a true passion for Montessori and absolutely fell in love with the method of teaching Ms. Yaneth has been working in the Montessori environment for four years. The level of independence and the self-esteem the children acquire is what makes me proud to be a part of the Montessori community. Watching the children blossom in their own time and at their own speed truly loving what they are doing truly makes me happy. We are very lucky to have someone with her level of passion and professionalism as a part of the MKU team. She has received an American Montessori Society Certificate of Continuing Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Ms. Yaneth MKU Sugar Land

Ms. Rumeysa – Primary 2 Assistant
Ms. Rumeysa puts her degree in Psychology and her experience as a teacher to good use as she assists Ms. Yaneth in the Primary classroom. Her love of teaching is obvious. She delights in watching the children grow by leaps and bounds and believes in differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each individual child.

Ms. Anmol – Pre-Toddler and Toddler Assistant Teacher – Ms. Anmol comes from a Montessori background and believes toddlers are the absolute best age group. We love her enthusiasm and patience with this active bunch!

Ms. Jasmin - Assistant Teacher, Floater - Ms. Jasmin brings experience in special education and meeting the needs of students who are struggling developmentally or intellectually. She moves around our classrooms helping wherever there is a need. Ms. Jasmin has a BS in Human Development and Family Studies.

Ms. Alishba is our Pre-Toddler Assistant teacher. She has worked in the Montessori setting for over a year and is currently pursuing credentials in Early Childhood Education. Her method of classroom management is in sync with the Montessori philosophy - allowing children to make decisions, providing them freedom of movement, and encouraging independence. She enjoys working with all ages of children. She bonds with children easily and is extremely dedicated to her classroom. She has received an American Montessori Society Certificate of Continuing Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Topics included developmentally appropriate approaches to Montessori learning, STEM learning, observations and planning, and developing kindness and compassion in children.

Ms. Courtney works at our front desk. As a Houston native, southern hospitality comes naturally to Courtney, and you will see this as she greets parents and children. She has worked with children for almost a decade, and moving to a Montessori setting has shaped her view of education. She loves being involved in the shaping of young minds and in watching our children reach milestones and exceed expectations.

Ms. Diana
Ms. Diana assists in the Primary and Toddler classrooms in the afternoons. Ms. Diana has had previous preschool experience and is bilingual, so while she is working in the classrooms, she also works with our children on Spanish.

Ms. Amber
Ms. Amber assists in the Infant and Pre-Toddler classrooms in the afternoon. Ms. Amber began as a church volunteer working with infants and young children, and she was so well liked (and liked it so much herself!) that it became her full-time job. She shares her love with our littlest ones while she completes her degree at University of Texas.

Ms. Sunhye
Ms. Sunhye - Toddler Assistant Teacher
With an associates degree in Early Childhood and over 10 year's experience in childcare, Ms. Sunhye is a highly qualified assistant teacher. She loves working with active toddlers and her physical education certification is especially useful as she gets the kids moving every day. She and Ms. Maria work together beautifully to prepare our children for Pre-Primary.

She has received an American Montessori Society Certificate of Continuing Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Topics included developmentally appropriate approaches to Montessori learning, STEM learning, observations and planning, and developing kindness and compassion in children.

All of the Montessori Kids Universe Sugar Land staff receives ongoing training from our Director Of Montessori Education & through The American Montessori Society & Professional Development from the Institute of Montessori Education. Topics included developmentally appropriate approaches to Montessori learning such as but not limited to, STEM learning, observations and planning, and developing kindness and compassion in children, Child development - Planes of development, Classroom leadership -Positive Discipline, Environmental Design and Developmentally Appropriate Activities for Toddlers, Importance of Positive Guidance and Documentation.

Susan Tracy McDaniel, MEd, is a lecturer in the infant and toddler education program at Seton Montessori Institute in Chicago, Cambridge Montessori Institute in Cambridge, MA., we well as at Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in Colorado. Her expertise spans Montessori philosophy and application, curriculum and programming, child development, and parent education. She served infants and toddlers as a teacher for over twenty years, and is a frequent speaker and consultant. Susan is also the Director of the Learning Together Parent Education Center in Palatine, IL. She is a certified EFT practitioner and holds both AMS and AMI credentials in infant and toddler education. 

Michelle Battistone is a nationally recognized expert in Montessori education for infants and toddlers. She is a lecturer in the infant and toddler education program at Cambridge Montessori Institute in Cambridge, MA. and a field consultant for Montessori Education Center of the Rockies. Michelle is also part of the site inspection and evaluation team for Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (an autonomous accrediting association for teacher education). Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and an AMS Infant and Toddler credential from North Harris Montgomery College. She has been a classroom Montessori teacher, teacher educator, administrator, and speaker. Co-Founder of Montessori Mentors, and the Infant and Toddler Program Coordinator for The Institute of Montessori Education, Michelle has spent over twenty years teaching infants, toddlers and the adults who work with them. 

Dr. Sharon Damore has over 35 years of experience working in Elementary and Secondary schools and higher education. She has an AMS Early Childhood credential, and, from the University of Houston, an EdD in Education Leadership and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. Sharon is an adjunct professor of education leadership at DePaul University, in Chicago, Illinois, and a lecturer at the AMS-affiliated Seton Montessori Institute in nearby Clarendon Hills. She also currently serves as the AMS Vice President. Sharon has founded several Montessori initiatives, including the AMS Accreditation Commission, the AMS Policy Committee, and the Montessori Public Policy Initiative, of which she is the Board Treasurer. Previously she was head of school of the AMS-accredited Chiaravalle Montessori School in Evanston, Illinois, among other many other positions in private and public schools. Sharon is the former executive director and a current active member of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools.  

Munir Shivji, M.Ed. is a second-generation Montessori educator with a decade-long record of service to the national Montessori community. He is the Director of Cambridge Montessori Institute, Director of Toddler and Primary Programs at Cambridge Montessori School in Cambridge, MA. and the Executive Director of The Institute of Montessori Education in Texas. Munir holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Houston, a Master in Education degree and AMS Early Childhood and Administrator credentials.

He has served as a field consultant, supervising teacher, and course instructor at CMTE/NY, and is a current member of the American Montessori Society (AMS) Board of Trustees and Executive Committee, currently serving as President. He has presented numerous times at the AMS Annual Conferences and serves on many national committees.
