Our teachers (guides) have a variety of impressive qualifications and Montessori training that makes them the perfect facilitators of your child’s education. They are passionate and creative individuals ready to elevate your child’s learning experience. We see teachers (guides) as the vessel of your child’s learning, therefore we seek the highest quality individuals. Additionally, each classroom has a teacher’s assistant in order to help with the many tasks and cater to each student’s individual needs. Because of the importance of our Montessori individualized learning and personal assessment component, teaching assistants are very important to the classroom.
Sandra is our Admissions Counselor and the first one to greet you and your children every day. She was born in Texas & has lived in Houston and Sugar Land for over 40 years. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a BS degree in Nursing and worked in Texas Medical Center as an RN. She has been blessed with 2 wonderful daughters & 3 grandchildren who are the light of her heart.
Ms. Vicki Vicki is our front office Director of Admissions. Her role is to oversee the admission process, conduct parent and family interviews, and ensure that that the transition into MKU is smooth and seamless for children and parents. Vicki’s goal is to make sure parents feel comfortable in our school environment and that they know their children are receiving the best education and care anywhere.
Ms. Aysha, our Pre-Primary teacher, has a Bachelor’s degree in commerce and two years’ experience working with children in addition to her wonderful first year at MKU. She has two children of her own and believes that teachers shape little minds. One of her greatest strengths is being creative with the children. Outside of her school time, she loves to cook, garden and draw.
Ms. Christina is our Primary 1 teacher. Her educational background is in computer science and she has 15 years of teaching experience in phonics and grammar. She was born and raised in South Korea. She is married to her best friend, Thomas, and they have two 13-year-old twin boys. She loves to watch her students learn and grow into happy, well rounded, young men and women.
Ms. Maria is our Toddler teacher and has been a dedicated Early Childhood Educator for 19 years. She came highly recommended from her previous schools, where she was named Classroom Teacher of the Year and was loved by parents and children! Ms. Maria is working on her Early Childhood Education degree and is a member of the Association for Childhood Educational International.
Ms. Mehri, our Infant teacher, comes by her job naturally. She was raised in a family of ten, always caring for her siblings, and she has one daughter who is her pride and joy. She has a degree in Management in Finance from the University of Birmingham in England and teacher certification training in General Education. She has served in education for more than fifteen years and respects and loves her infants, caring for them as if they were her own.
Ms. Sarah – Infant Assistant
With four years’ experience nurturing babies, Ms. Sarah joins Ms. Mehri in caring for our littlest. A soft voice, loving handling, and attention to detail make Ms. Sarah an excellent teacher for our babies. Her teamwork with Ms. Mehri contributes to their being a favorite among parents who know there is no better care for their infants.
Ms. Zenaida is Pre-Primary and Pre-Toddler assistant. A new transplant to Texas she feels honored to work at MKU. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked for one of the best preschools in Oahu and we are proud to have her on staff. “My heart soars up high whenever a child gives me a wave, a hug, a smile or a simple, “Are you happy Ms. Naida?” What could be better than that? And that’s what I get every day as soon as I clock myself in to our school. I am looking forward for more years of having fun at MKU because I treat this not as a profession but a vocation, a calling that I luckily heard.”
Ms. Karen is our Pre-Primary assistant. She is currently a student at Wharton Community Junior College majoring in Speech Pathology. She has worked for LCISD elementary and as an after school counselor. Her certifications include awareness of child abuse, bullying, and helping special needs children. She also worked for Fort Bend County Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston. Ms. Karen genuinely enjoys working with children and helping them find their unique potential and setting the foundation that will set the on a path to be honest and kind hearted individuals.
Ms. Raquel Lopez is our Infant teacher assistant. She has over 14 years of experience working with children from infant to 5 years old. She has a huge love and compassion for teaching children. She enjoys seeing the infants smile as they come into the room, it’s gratifying and inspires her to do her best.
Ms. Farah Shnain is our Assistant Pre-Primary teacher. She is licensed in Early Childhood Education and has seven years of experience working in childcare. She thinks that working with children is the most rewarding job in the world because of the promise each child brings to the world. Her motivation is seeing the infants blossom as they respond to her.
Ms. Aisha, is an Assistant Teacher. She is currently a college student and a native Houstonian, born and raised. “I love my babies” Working with infants/babies and seeing their smiling faces is the best feeling in the world. Aisha is furthering her education in early childhood development and in fitness and nutrition. Aisha loves to work out in her spare time.
Ms. Yaneth is the Lead Montessori Directress in the Primary 2 classroom. Future Graduate of the University of Houston pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Ms. Yaneth has been in the Child Care Industry for over six years. Ms. Yaneth has a true passion for Montessori and absolutely fell in love with the method of teaching Ms. Yaneth has been working in the Montessori environment for four years. The level of independence and the self-esteem the children acquire is what makes me proud to be a part of the Montessori community. Watching the children blossom in their own time and at their own speed truly loving what they are doing truly makes me happy. We are very lucky to have someone with her level of passion and professionalism as a part of the MKU team.
Ms. Rumeysa – Primary 2 Assistant
Ms. Rumeysa puts her degree in Psychology and her experience as a teacher to good use as she assists Ms. Yaneth in the Primary classroom. Her love of teaching is obvious. She delights in watching the children grow by leaps and bounds and believes in differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each individual child.
Ms. Alishba is our Pre-Toddler Assistant teacher. She has worked in the Montessori setting for over a year and is currently pursuing credentials in Early Childhood Education. Her method of classroom management is in sync with the Montessori philosophy – allowing children to make decisions, providing them freedom of movement, and encouraging independence. She enjoys working with all ages of children. She bonds with children easily and is extremely dedicated to her classroom.
Ms. Emma – Pre-Toddler Assistant
Ms. Emma loves assisting in the classro0m with our 12-16 month olds. While Ms. Alishba is teaching Montessori, Ms. Emma moves seamlessly through the room, meeting the children’s needs and making sure they are cared for and loved. Having grown up in a large family and tight-knit community, Ms. Emma has worked with children over many years and has a love for this age group.
Ms. Courtney works at our front desk. As a Houston native, southern hospitality comes naturally to Courtney, and you will see this as she greets parents and children. She has worked with children for almost a decade, and moving to a Montessori setting has shaped her view of education. She loves being involved in the shaping of young minds and in watching our children reach milestones and exceed expectations.
Outside of your family, your child’s teachers and caregivers are the most important people in their life. As such, we place the highest value in carefully selecting and vetting each and every member of our staff.
Every lead teacher at our school is required to have a Bachelor’s degree in addition to their Montessori certification. We require all of our teachers to complete continued educational coursework each year to keep abreast with current educational trends.
All of our classes additionally have classroom teaching assistants who aid in the management, guidance, and teaching aspects of your child’s class.
All staff members undergo a thorough background check that exceeds state requirements. This includes conducting a fingerprint background check, as well as verification of educational documents.
We have high standards for certification and classroom readiness. Our teachers are trained through The Association Montessori International and the North American Montessori Center.
