Amber Rue - Head of School

Amber is our Head of School. With over 20 years’ experience in childhood education, her leadership at Montessori Kids Universe ensures your child will develop self-confidence, personal independence and, most importantly, a life-long love of learning.
Amber earned her BS in Early Childhood Education at the University of Dayton and is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). She has pursued the Reggio Emilia approach to curriculum development and teaching throughout her career. Amber views the child as strong, capable and resilient and has successfully created child-centered environments which ignite the child’s innate sense of wonder and exploration.
Her broad professional experience began in mixed-age Head Start programs and lead teacher roles within several age groups. She developed curriculum for children ages 1-6 and demonstrated her leadership abilities by serving as both Assistant Director and Director of preschool programs for over 14 years. Amber will make your children feel that our school is their ‘home away from home’ and is eager to welcome them into the Montessori Kids Universe family.

Emma Wehmeyer – Primary Lead Teacher

Emma is our Lead Montessori Teacher in the 3-6 Primary classroom. Emma has taught at Montessori schools throughout the United States and her broad knowledge gained from various Montessori programs allows her to bring the best of these to MKU, creating a fresh and exciting Montessori experience for your child.
Emma’s passion is helping children become more compassionate, inquisitive, and self-motivated. She creates Montessori environments that insure each child will be contributing members of their classroom community, allowing them to discover and grow, and gain confidence in their abilities and themselves.
Emma earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky University, and her American Montessori Society (AMS) Early Childhood Certification from The Montessori Heartland in Illinois.


Kiera is our Lead Montessori Teacher in the 2-3 Pre-primary classroom. Kiera has pursued her passion in early childhood development in a variety of settings including pediatric healthcare, public school enrichment programs and private childcare programs. Kiera aspires to guide the next generation to be self-sufficient, imaginative, and collaborative leaders; to have a positive impact on their communities and society.
Pre-primary age children are rapidly developing important communication, physical and creative skills. Kiera creates a classroom environment that encourages children to understand the power of their voice, to expand their inner abilities, and to recognize their relationship to the world around them.
Kiera earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration from Ohio University, and is currently acquiring her 0-3 Montessori Diploma from the North American Montessori Center (NAMC).

Lysa Hou - Montessori Consultant

Lysa is assisting Montessori Kids Universe of Mason in creating an authentic Montessori learning experience for our children. With over 16 years of experience teaching young, multicultural learners, Lysa is guided by her love of helping young children thrive and reach their full potential. “The joy I see in the parents and children I work with is the greatest gift I could ever ask for, and it is a constant source of inspiration.”
Well-known and respected in the Montessori community, Lysa earned her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Xavier University, her American Montessori Society (AMS) credentials for ages 3-6 from Xavier University, and her AMS credentials for ages 0-3 from Greater Cincinnati Center for Montessori Education. Additionally, Lysa has her Foreign Language Teaching Certification.
Lysa’s teaching philosophy has been molded by experiences growing up in Swaziland, South Africa and Taiwan and attending international schools. These rich and diverse experiences led to her teaching in Taiwan and in the United States. Most recently, Lysa has been focused on assisting parents in fostering a life-long love of learning in their children through her consultancy Grow 2Gether Montessori.
